The survey found that while print textbooks remain popular, the demand for online learning solutions is growing, especially for interactive and immersive learning.

Are eBooks the Future of Higher Education?

Recent research shows that student preferences are trending towards eBooks over print, especially with younger students. From 2011 to 2012, students reported that their preference of print over digital textbooks dropped from 72% to 60%. During that time, student tablet ownership rose from 26% to 37%.

Student Focus Group Concludes Navigate 2 with Interactive eBook Will Improve Learning

In fall 2014, we conducted a focus group with students at Glendale Community College on Navigate 2 Advantage Access for Fundamentals of Microbiology, Tenth Edition, based on Pommerville's classic undergraduate microbiology text. Overwhelmingly, students agreed that Navigate 2 was well-organized, user-friendly, and helped them study more efficiently.

Pilot Studies Show Navigate eFolio: Nursing Informatics Has a Positive Impact on Student Learning and Engagement

Improving Student Outcomes with Technology Learning Solutions, an Example from Public Health Education

Enhanced technology learning tools hold great potential for improving basic learning outcomes including mastery of course content, completion rates, and time-to-degree. A recent study by Ithaka S+R concluded that hybrid courses using computer-based instruction in concert with face-to-face instruction showed comparable learning outcomes to traditional classroom-based instruction alone.

We recently surveyed 485 users of JB TestPrep: Comprehensive Lactation Consultant Exam Review to find out whether it helped users learn more and pass the International Board of Lactation Consultant Examiners (IBLCE) exam. We conducted a pilot study for Navigate eFolio: Pathophysiology with more than 90 students and six instructors in the U.S. using the product in their pathophysiology course for one semester.
